Impact of Plurilingualism on Learning Quality in Evening (Shift) Schools

<p><em>This paper presents the main findings of the second stage of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Lifelong Learning study (2011-2014) on identification of good practices that facilitate adult learning (aged 18-24) engagement in second chance education in evening (shift) schools. It analyses students’ perceptions of plurilingual learning processes and the impact of people’s plurilingualism on their learning. The results of the discussion groups are analyzed through the prism of the transversal key competences that are proposed to help achieve the Objectives of Sustainable Development through teaching. Aprender a aprender en la universidad: perspectivas del profesorado y de los estudiantes

El objetivo de este estudio fue interpretar las perspectivas del profesorado y de los estudiantes universitarios acerca de la competencia “aprender a aprender”. Llevamos a cabo grupos de discusión con ambos colectivos y nos apoyamos en el Modelo GIPU-EA, ya que era lo suficientemente operativo e integrador como para sistematizar las codificaciones. Analizamos el enraizamiento y la densidad, y calculamos un puntaje de coherencia intradimensional. Los resultados mostraron dos perfiles diferentes en la percepción de la competencia. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää oppimaan oppimisen näkyminen yläkoulun englannin kielen oppikirjoissa. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin, miten ja missä yhteyksissä oppimaan oppiminen tuli esille ja mitä kielitaidon osa-alueita painotettiin. Oppimaan oppiminen on ajankohtainen aihe ja tärkeä osa oppimisprosessia. Esimerkiksi on tärkeää, että oppilas tietää miten oppii parhaiten ja reflektoi oppimistaan. On tutkittu, että oppimaan oppimisen avulla oppiminen on tehokkaampaa ja sillä on myös vaikutusta opettajan työhön. Siksi erityisesti tulevien opettajien tulisi perehtyä oppimaan oppimisen käsitteeseen tulevina oppimisen asiantuntijoina. Individual Creativity and Career Choices of Pre-teens in the Context of a Math-Art Learning Event

A sample of 392 students (aged 12-13 years, M± SD: 12. 52% girls) completed a learning module integrating informal hands-on mathematics and arts activity (extending STEM to STEAM). Within a 140 minute workshop period participants worked with commercially available ‘4Dframe’ Math and STEAM learning toolkits to design and create original, personal and individual geometrical structures. Two science pedagogues acted as tutors supervising the process and intervened only when needed.
